Fairleigh Dickinson edges Wagner 82-79 in OT
NEW YORK -- Earl Potts Jr. scored 22 points and sank the winning 3-pointer in overtime to lift Fairleigh Dickinson into sole possession of first place in the Northeast Conference with an 82-79 win over Wagner on Thursday night.
Trailing 79-73 in OT, Fairleigh Dickinson (12-10, 8-3) overtook Wagner with three straight 3-pointers in the final 1:37 win it. Darnell Edge sank the first one and Potts, who also had 11 rebounds, hit the final two. The winning bucket was set up by an offensive rebound by Marques Townes, with Potts getting outside for a long 3 from the corner with 1.3 seconds left.
Wagner's Michael Carey missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Fairleigh Dickinson forced OT with Tyrone O'Garro's layup to tie it at 71 at the end of regulation.
Mike Holloway added 17 points and 10 boards for the Knights. Townes, Edge Stephan Jiggetts had 12 points apiece.
Carey's 24 points led four Wagner (14-8, 7-4) players in double figures.
