Long Island University Sharks @ Wagner Seahawks
LIU Brooklyn edges Wagner 71-70.
NEW YORK -- Martin Hermannsson's free throw with 11 seconds to go gave LIU Brooklyn a 71-70 win over Wagner on Thursday night.
Glenn Feidanga made a steal and fed Jerome Frink for a dunk to give LIU a 70-68 lead with 37 seconds left. Wagner's Romone Saunders made a free throw then Hermannsson sank his.
After Wagner's Corey Henson missed a shot, the Seahawks fouled Feidanga with three seconds remaining. He missed both free throws and fouled Corey Henson trying to rebound his own missed foul shot. Henson made the first free throw but missed the second and a tip-in was no good as time ran out.
Aakim Saintil scored a career-high 27 points and Frink 17 for the Blackbirds (8-8, 2/3 Northeast), who trailed by 13 at halftime. A big factor was making 23 of 30 free throws.
Saunders scored 21 points and Michael Carey 15 for the Seahawks (10-6, 3-2).
