East Tennessee edges Samford in overtime 94-90
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- Ge'Lawn Guyn scored 25 points, including nine in overtime, to lead East Tennessee over Samford 94-90 on Thursday night.
Guyn was 7 of 14 from the field and made all six of his free throws in the extra session.
Christen Cunningham's 3-pointer with 1:56 left in OT drew Samford within two at 88-86. But T.J. Cromer (17 points) responded with a jumper, and Guyn made four consecutive from the line to seal it.
East Tennessee (16-9, 9-3 Southern) led by four with 1:53 in regulation, but Wyatt Walker got loose for two layups and ETSU missed its last two shots, prompting overtime.
Isaac Banks added 12 points and nine rebounds for ETSU, which shot 50 percent and made 11 of 20 from beyond the arc.
Samford (12-15, 3-11) was led by Walker's 30 points -- a career high for the freshman -- and eight rebounds. Cunningham tied his career high with 26 points and Matt Rose added 10.
