Furman cruises to 95-75 win over The Citadel
GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Matt Rafferty scored 21 points and hauled in 10 rebounds to propel Furman to a 95-75 win over The Citadel on Thursday night.
Stephen Croone added 16 points and Kris Acox had 12 for Furman, which shot 52 percent from the field to get its ninth-straight win at home. The Paladins hit 23 of 29 from the line and controlled the glass 51-37.
Leading by a point, Furman (16-11, 10-4 Southern Conference) broke away with a 25-4 run that stretched across both sides of intermission and made it 48-26 with 19:02 to play. Five of the Paladins' eight 3-pointers came during the run, with Croone and Andrew Brown each hitting two and John Davis III capping it with one of his own.
The Citadel (10-16, 3-10) scored the game's first five points before being overtaken.
Connor Schroeder's 17 points led four Bulldogs in double figures.
