NEW YORK -- Nisre Zouzoua hit seven 3-pointers and scored 29 points, both season bests for the freshman, and Bryant held on to defeat LIU Brooklyn 88-83 on Saturday.
The Bulldogs led 43-32 at halftime and were still up by 11 after a 3-point play from Shane McLaughlin with 5:50 remaining before the Blackbirds got a 3 from Aakim Saintil that started a run to pull within 78-75 with 4:04 remaining. A Joel Hernandez 3 cut Bryant's lead to 83-81 at 1:07, but LIU Brooklyn missed its last three shots while the Bulldogs made 5 of 6 free throws.
Marcel Pettway added 19 points and McLaughlin had 12 points and 12 assists for Bryant (8-23, 5-13 Northeast Conference), which was 14 of 25 on 3s and shot 61.5 percent (32 of 52).
Jerome Frink had 23 points and Martin Hermannsson added 20 for the Blackbirds (15-14, 9-9), who shot 37 percent (27 of 73).
