Northern Arizona beats San Diego Christian 81-65
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Ako Kaluna had 25 points, six rebounds and four blocks to send Northern Arizona to an 81-65 win against San Diego Christian on Monday night.
Kaluna scored 12 points during the Lumberjacks' game-opening 17-6 run for a lead they would never relinquish. Northern Arizona led the NAIA Hawks 36-24 at halftime.
Kaluna finished 9 for 15 from the field, including 3-for-4 shooting from beyond the 3-point arc. Northern Arizona (2-3) shot 30 for 58 from the field (52 percent) and blocked eight shots on the defensive end.
Jaleni Neely, Torry Johnson and Marcus DeBerry had 10 points each for NAU.
Trevor English scored 10 points for the Hawks and Shayne Travers added nine.
The Hawks only committed seven turnovers and had 14 offensive rebounds but shot just 31.7-percent (20 for 63) from the floor.
