Hammink hits late 3; Valparaiso beats Green Bay 70-68
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Alec Peters scored 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, and Shane Hammink made a 3-pointer with four seconds left to give Valparaiso a 70-68 victory over Green Bay on Sunday for its fifth straight win.
The Crusaders (26-5, 16-2) are the first team to win the Horizon League regular-season title by three or more games since the 2009-10 Butler team. Valparaiso also snapped a two-game skid against the Phoenix in Green Bay
Peters was 9 of 19 from the floor and has scored in double figures in 29 of 31 games. Hammink finished with 11 points.
Khalil Small had 14 points to lead five in double-figure scoring for Green Bay (19-12, 11-7), which had its four-game win streak snapped.
After Hammink hit his 3, Keith Carter forced a turnover with a second left to seal it for Valparaiso.
