Western Kentucky beats Campbellsville 97-77 in opener
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Nigel Snipes scored 24 points and hit 5 of 10 3-pointers and Western Kentucky beat Campbellsville 97-77 Saturday night in its season opener.
Frederick Edmond scored 20, Justin Johnson added 16 with 15 rebounds and four assists, and Ben Lawson chipped in 13.
It was an exhibition game for NAIA Cambellsville (4-0), which was led by Hagen Tyler's 28 points, including 8 of 12 3-pointers.
The lead changed hands eight times before Western Kentucky pulled ahead 35-23 after a 12-3 run that Snipes started and ended with 3s. Edmond scored 12 points in the half and the Hilltoppers shot 52.6 percent for a 49-39 halftime lead.
Western Kentucky opened the second half with a 20-6 run in which Snipes scored two more 3s and led by 25 points at the midway mark.
Sekou Harris scored 15 for the Tigers, Elliot Young added 13, and Dii'jon Allen-Jordan, 10.
