Loyola of Chicago pulls away from UTSA in 76-64 win

CHICAGO -- Milton Doyle scored 20 points, Montel James added 14 more and Loyola of Chicago cruised to a 76-64 win over Texas-San Antonio in the season opener for both teams Friday night.

Doyle shot 8 of 14 from the floor, including a pair of 3-pointers, and had five rebounds, while James had seven boards. Devon Turk and Earl Peterson had 11 points apiece for the Ramblers, who opened the game with a 15-2 run and never trailed.

Loyola shot 54.2 percent from the field, hitting 8 of 18 from beyond the arc, and held UTSA to 43.1 percent shooting.

UTSA opened the second half with a 7-2 run to narrow the gap but couldn't overtake the Roadrunners down the stretch.

Ryan Bowie led UTSA with 16 points and nine rebounds, while J.R. Harris had 14 points.
