Rider Broncs @ Quinnipiac Bobcats
Quinnipiac goes wire-to-wire to stop Rider, Okereafor, 64-60
HAMDEN, Conn. -- Donovan Smith and Giovanni McLean combined to score 30 points and Quinnipiac never trailed in a 64-60 win over Rider to snap a four-game losing string Monday night.
The Bobcats led by as many as 15 points, but had few answers for Teddy Okereafor, who scored a career-best 30 points, including the Broncs' final 15 points in the game. The graduate student from London, England and transfer from Virginia Commonwealth, scored the final seven points for Rider (4-10, 0-3 MAAC) at the end of the first half.
Okereafor hit a 3-pointer with :07 left that cut the Quinnipiac lead to two, 62-60, but Smith converted a pair of free throws to produce the final score.
Smith and McLean finished with 15 points each for the Bobcats.
Okereafor was 11 of 19 from the field (4 of 7 from beyond the arc) while Rider shot 20 of 55 as a team.
