Broome with 27 points, Sacred Heart beats Quinnipiac 76-64
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Cane Broome scored 8 of his 27 points in the final five minutes to lead Sacred Heart to a 76-64 victory over Quinnipiac in the season-opener for both teams at the Connecticut 6 Classic on Friday night.
Quincy McKnight had 13 points, and Jordan Allen and Eyimofe Edukugho added 11 apiece for the Pioneers. Daniel Harris scored 13 points, James Ford Jr. had 10 points with nine rebounds, and Dimitri Floras had 11 points to lead the Bobcats.
Harris made two 3-pointers during an 8-0 run to pull the Bobcats to 59-58 with 5:31 to play. Chris Robinson made a pair of free throws, and Broome made 6 of 8 free throws with a layup during a 17-6 run to seal it for the Pioneers, while the Bobcats missed five free throws and nine field goal attempts.
