Williams and Boothe help Toledo past San Jose State 89-74
ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Jonathan Williams scored 26 points, Nathan Boothe registered a triple-double, and Toledo beat San Jose State 89-74 to advance in the winner's bracket in the Great Alaska Shootout.
Williams was 11 of 18 with four 3-pointers and had six assists. Boothe finished with 12 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists. Stuckey Mosley chipped in with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting.
Toledo (3-1) closed the first half on a 9-2 run -- including a 3-pointer by Williams -- to take a 47-38 lead into the break.
The Spartans trimmed the deficit to six after back-to-back buckets by Jalen James and Princeton Onwas early in the second half, but Williams and Boothe answered with layups and Toledo cruised from there.
Frank Rogers and Ryan Welage had 16 points apiece for San Jose State (1-3). Onwas finished with 14 points and five assists.
