Siena crushes Manhattan in 89-54 win
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Lavon Long had 19 points as Siena defeated Manhattan 89-54 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opener for both teams Friday night.
Marquis Wright and Kenny Wormley each added 14 for the Saints (5-3), who have scored 80 or more points in four straight games. Javion Ogunyemi chipped in 13 points and Brett Bisping had 10. Bisping entered the game as only one of four Division I players averaging 13 points, nine rebounds and shooting 80 percent from the foul line.
Siena dominated the glass with a 43-24 rebounding edge. The Saints collected 20 offensive rebounds for the contest.
Manhattan (1-4) finished with 34 fouls and had four players foul out.
Bisping's layup with 11:36 to go gave Siena a 19-2 lead with 11:36 to play in the first half. The Saints never trailed.
Shane Richards led the Jaspers with 26 points shooting 8 for 17 from the field.
