JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- A.J. English scored 21 points with six rebounds and five assists to help Iona hold off St. Peter's 75-67 on Monday night.
English was 7 of 13 from the field with three 3-pointers and the Gaels (12-9, 9-3 Metro Atlantic) shot over 48 percent. Deyshonee Much scored 14 points while Jordan Washington had 12 points and eight rebounds.
St. Peter's (8-12, 6-5) was led by Quadir Welton with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Trevis Wyche and Elisha Boone scored 15 points apiece. Wyche added seven assists.
The Peacocks made just 4 of 17 from beyond the arc.
Iona closed the first half on a 15-5 run to lead 41-27 at the break.
St. Peter's was down by as many as 18 in the second half. An 11-1 run -- capped by Cameron Jones' 3-pointer -- cut it to five with 27 seconds left, but St. Peter's ran out of time.
