Ball State leads MAC West after sweeping Miami (Ohio) 73-56
OXFORD, Ohio -- Franko House went 13 for 13 from the free-throw line to finish with 19 points and Ball State completed a season sweep of Miami (Ohio) with a 73-56 victory and took over sole possession of the Mid-American Conference West Division on Tuesday night.
The Cardinals entered the game tied with Toledo atop the division, but the Rockets were knocked off by Central Michigan, 77-69. This is the latest in the season Ball State has led the MAC West division since the 2009-10 season.
Jeremie Tyler hit a 3-pointer with 23 seconds left in the first half to send Ball State into intermission with a 32-28 lead. House padded the lead with a 3-point play to open the second half, and two minutes into the period the Cardinals (17-9, 8-5) had ballooned the lead to 40-29.
Eric Washington scored 19 points to help pace the RedHawks (9-17, 3-10).
