North Dakota State rallies to beat UC Davis 79-71 in OT
DAVIS, Calif. -- Dexter Werner scored the first two baskets of overtime as North Dakota State scored the last 11 points in regulation -- and 21 unanswered points all told -- rallying to a 79-71 victory at UC Davis on Friday night.
Kory Brown drove into a crowd of defenders to score a layup with three seconds left in regulation, knotting the score at 69-69, capping a 9-2 run and forcing OT. Werner scored on a layup to open the extra period and added a jumper as the Bison (1-0) surged ahead 73-69.
Paul Miller scored 20 points for the Bison.
Josh Fox finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Neal Monson added 14 points with 10 rebounds for UC Davis.
The Aggies, who won their first Big West championship last season, raised the championship banner during pregame ceremonies.
