Cal State Northridge beats Bethesda 79-49
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -- Kendall Smith scored 22 points and Tavrion Dawson added 21 points with 13 rebounds to help Cal State Northridge beat Bethesda 79-49 on Sunday night.
Dawson hit 13 of 14 free throws as the Matadors were 31 of 44 from the stripe compared to Bethesda's 12 attempts.
Micheal Warren added 10 points and six rebounds for CSUN (4-7), which had nine players score. With two steals, Tre Hale-Edmerson now ranks 10th all-time in program history.
Smith had 14 points in the first half and Dawson scored 11 as CSUN held a 40-22 lead at the break. The Matadors were 15 of 20 from the line.
Bethesda, a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association, was led by David Jelks' 11 points. Jorge Castro added 10 points for the Flames, who were held to 18-of-65 shooting (27.7 percent), including 4 of 22 from 3-point range.
