George Washington cruises against Duquesne, 91-64
WASHINGTON -- Tyler Cavanaugh scored a career-best 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and George Washington had no trouble in a 91-64 win over Duquesne on Saturday night.
The victory was George Washington's 10th consecutive at home to start the season.
Cavanaugh hit 11 of his 16 shots from the field, including 6 of 10 from distance. Kevin Larsen added a career-high 25 points with 11 rebounds for the Colonials (13-3, 2-1 Atlantic 10). Alex Mitola finished with 15, including four 3-pointers.
George Washington closed the first half on a 25-11 scoring stretch to lead 41-27.
Larsen hit two free throws and Cavanaugh added a jumper to push the lead to 53-30 early in the second half. A pair of Patricio Garino free throws with 4:28 left made it 89-55, the largest lead for the Colonials.
Derrick Colter and Mar'Qywell Jackson each had 10 points to lead the Dukes (10-6, 0-3).
