Stony Brook remains unbeaten in AEC, wallops UMBC, 75-52
BALTIMORE -- Jameel Warney scored 22 points and Stony Brook maintained its perfect record in America East Conference play by walloping the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, 75-52 Thursday night.
The Seawolves jumped to an early lead, taking a 37-17 advantage into intermission and held a 31-point lead late in the game.
UMBC closed on a 14-3 run to make the final margin more respectable.
Stony Brook (21-4, 12-0) holds a commanding, three-game lead on its nearest challenger in the conference standings, Albany after the Great Danes dropped a 69-68 decision to New Hampshire Thursday.
Ahmad Walker added 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Seawolves. Carson Puriefoy and Rayshaun McGrew added 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Jairus Lyles scored 13 points to lead UMBC, which was just 15 of 52 from the floor (30.8 percent) and just 1 of 11 from deep.
