Binghamton rides Rodriguez past Hartford 65-54
HARTFORD, Conn. -- Willie Rodriguez tied a career high with 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Binghamton dumped Hartford 68-54 on Thursday night.
Thomas Bruce added 12 points for Binghamton (6-19, 3-9 America East). The Bearcats shot 24 for 55 (43.6 percent) from the field.
Jalen Ross led Hartford with 16 points and Pancake Thomas had 14.
Rodriguez's 3-point play with 29 seconds left in first half gave the Bearcats a 26-17 lead. Later, with the Bearcats leading 36-31 with 13:30 to play, the Bearcats use an 8-0 run in less than two minutes to push the lead to 13.
Hartford (7-19, 2-9) then responded with an 11-3 run to get back within five with 8:09 left. Thomas made two free throws trimming the deficit to 51-47 with 4:56 to play, but Rodriguez scored seven points in a 9-2 run.
