Binghamton hangs on for 64-57 win over UMass Lowell
LOWELL, Mass. -- Willie Rodriguez and Marlon Beck II scored 17 points apiece to lead Binghamton to its first conference victory of the season with a 64-57 win over Massachusetts-Lowell on Sunday.
Thomas Bruce added 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Binghamton (4-15, 1-5 America East), which hit just 36 percent of its 61 shots from the field but had 16 steals while giving up eight. Beck was 3 of 7 from beyond the arc.
Knotted 24-24 at the break, Binghamton opened the second half with a 12-1 run fueled by Rodriguez and Beck and hung on down the stretch. UMass Lowell (7-13, 3-4) narrowed the gap with a 10-0 run that made it 54-47 with 1:30 left, but Binghamton sealed it with 10-for-14 shooting from the foul line.
Jahad Thomas led UMass Lowell with 14 rebounds to go with nine points.
