Birt, Woodard lead Tulsa to 74-55 win over Temple
TULSA, Okla. -- Pat Birt scored 23 and James Woodard added 15 points, a career-high eight assists and six rebounds to help Tulsa beat Temple 74-55 Tuesday night.
The Golden Hurricane won its third in a row and pulled within a game of American Athletic Conference-leading Temple.
Marquel Curtis finished with 13 points for Tulsa (19-9, 11-5).
A layup by Curtis with 7:13 to play capped a 13-2 run and put the Golden Hurricane up 60-46. Temple (17-10, 11-4) trailed by double figures the rest of the way.
The Owls led 25-13 before Tulsa closed the first half with an 18-4 run.
Obi Enechionyia led Temple with 17 points, including four 3-pointers, and three blocked shots. Quenton DeCosey scored 11 with nine rebounds.
Tulsa committed just six turnovers and outscored the Owls 10-0 on fast-break points.
