South Florida beats Memphis 80-71 for 1st league home win
TAMPA, Fla. -- Nehemias Morillo scored 19 points, Jahmal McMurray had 17 and South Florida won its first home game in league play this season in an 80-71 victory over Memphis on Saturday.
Memphis was up 51-50 with 8:48 left before Chris Perry, Morillo and McMurray sparked South Florida's 9-2 run for a 59-53 lead. An 11-2 run, with six points by Morillo and five from McMurray, extended the Bulls' advantage to 71-59.
Perry finished with 16 points and Angel Nunez added 13 for South Florida (7-21, 4-11 American Athletic Conference). Ruben Guerrero had five points, 11 rebounds and a career-high seven blocks for the Bulls.
Avery Woodson and Dedric Lawson each scored 17 points for Memphis (15-12, 6-8). Lawson grabbed 10 rebounds for his fifth straight double-double -- tied for the 14th longest streak in program history. Woodson made five of the Tigers' seven 3-pointers.
