TULSA, Okla. -- Brandon Swannegan scored 19 points and Tulsa pulled away from Tulane in the second half to earn a 62-48 win on Saturday night.
Swannegan finished an efficient 8-of-10 from the field and also grabbed 11 rebounds. Sterling Taplin added 12 points and James Woodard had 10 for the Golden Hurricane (14-7, 6-3 American Conference), who have won six of seven and sit in a tie for second with Cincinnati in the league standings.
Tulsa used a 9-0 run early in the second half, capped by back-to-back Taplin layups, to take a double-figure lead (39-27). The Golden Hurricane where never seriously threatened the rest of the night. Two Swannegan free throws with 1:10 to go made it 62-46, the largest lead of the game.
Louis Dabney had 17 points and five steals for Tulane (8-15, 1-9). It was the third time in five games the Green Wave was held below 50 points.
