Tulsa beats East Carolina 84-69 behind Woodard's 22 points
GREENVILLE, N.C. -- James Woodard scored 22 points with four 3-pointers, Pat Birt added 20 with six 3s and Tulsa beat East Carolina 84-69 on Tuesday night to win its fourth straight game.
Rashad Smith scored 12 points, Rashad Ray added 11, and Shaquille Harrison scored 10 with a career-high 10 assists for Tulsa (12-6, 4-2 American).
Tulsa shot 14 of 27 from long distance (52 percent) and outscored the Pirates 30-18 in the paint.
Trailing 42-37 at halftime, East Carolina gained on an 11-2 run in which Prince Williams and B.J. Tyson each hit 3-pointers. Then Caleb White tied it at 56 with a jumper.
Tulsa replied with a 7-2 run in which Smith scored four points and the Golden Hurricane led 69-65 after Birt's back-to-back 3-pointers. Woodard hit a 3 with 1:59 left and Tulsa finished with an 11-2 run.
Tyson scored 16 for East Carolina (8-11, 0-6), which has lost six straight.
