Brantley's double-double leads Charleston over Towson 65-47
CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Jarrell Brantley scored 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, and Charleston dealt Towson a 65-47 loss on Thursday night.
Marquise Pointer made three 3-pointers and scored 19 points for Charleston (14-8, 6-5 Colonial Athletic), which finished the game on a 14-0 run. The Cougars were 8 of 17 from 3-point range for 47 percent.
Mike Morsell scored 13 points and Timajh Parker-Rivera 11 for the Tigers (16-8, 7-4), who had a three-game winning streak broken.
In their last meeting, Charleston won on the road at Towson 40-37 on Jan. 21. The teams are 1-2 in scoring defense in the CAA with the Cougars ranked 21st in the nation, giving up 63.7 points per game, and they were particularly good this night, holding Towson to 36 percent shooting, including 2 of 16 from 3-point range.
