Pepperdine holds on to beat Pacific 81-76
MALIBU, Calif. -- Lamond Murray Jr. had a career-high 31 points and 10 rebounds and Pepperdine beat Pacific 81-76 on Thursday night.
Jett Raines scored 20 points and Stacy Davis added 17 points with 12 rebounds for Pepperdine (9-6, 2-2 West Coast Conference).
T.J. Wallace scored 22 points to lead Pacific (3-11, 2-3).
Pacific used a 20-9 run to take a 63-62 lead with 5:44 remaining. The Tigers led until Murray's two free throws gave the Waves a 72-71 lead.
Wallace answered with a jumper, and the Tigers had a one-point lead with 56 seconds left. The Waves made six free throws, but Wallace made a 3 to pull the Tigers to 78-76.
Davis then split a pair of free throws with 14.4 remaining. Jeremy Major forced the Tigers to throw ball out of bounds on their next possession with 5.5 left, and Raines made two free throws to seal it.
