Southeastern Louisiana holds off Mississippi College, 76-69
HAMMOND, La. -- Mike Hawkins scored 13 points, Zay Jackson and Dimi Cook each added 12 points, and Southeastern Louisiana beat Mississippi College 76-69 on Wednesday night.
Jackson also finished with eight assists and five steals. Keith Charleston had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Lions (1-2).
After a Johnny Rucker layup for Mississippi College cut the Southeastern Louisiana lead to 68-64 with 4:35 left in the game, the Lions scored 10 of the next 14 points to build a double digit lead and put the game away. Jackson scored 8 of the 10 points during the stretch.
Tory Rice led the Choctaws with 16 points and eight boards. Jonathan McGee finished with 14 points and Stacey Mack had 11 for Mississippi College.
Southeastern Louisiana shot 52 percent from the field and forced 22 total Choctaws turnovers.
