Savannah State clinches No. 5 seed, beats Florida A&M 52-40
SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Lenjo Kilo scored 18 points and Savannah State clinched the No. 5 seed in next week's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament by downing Florida A&M, 52-40 Thursday night in the Tigers' regular season finale.
With the fifth-place finish, Savannah State will play the conference No. 12 seed.
The Tigers finished the season with an 11-2 record at home, with their only loss coming at the hands of a league opponent.
Savannah State (14-14, 9-7) held a one-point lead at the break, but outscored the Rattlers (8-21, 4-12) by 11 in the second half.
Kilo was 7 of 10 from the field, grabbed six rebounds and blocked four shots to help lead the Tigers. Troyce Manassa grabbed 10 rebounds and scored eight points.
Craig Bowman scored 11 points and Malcolm Bernard added another 10 for Florida A&M, which shot 12 of 49 from the field (24.5 percent).
