Gillon leads Colorado State past Air Force 87-73
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- John Gillon scored 11 of his 22 points during a pivotal second-half run and Colorado State beat Air Force 87-73 on Saturday in a regular-season finale.
Gillon hit three 3-pointers and scored 11 points during a 23-2 run that put the Rams (16-15, 8-10 Mountain West) up 54-39 with 10 minutes remaining.
The Falcons (14-17, 5-13) made two 3-pointers to end the run but the Rams immediately went back up by double figures for good.
Air Force led 25-22 at halftime after CSU shot just 21 percent but got nine points from Gillon to stay close.
Gillon, who had eight assists, made 4 of 6 3-pointers and all 10 of his free throws with the Rams going 13 of 30 from the arc and making 28 of 34 free throws. The Rams shot 65 percent in the second half. Emmanuel Omogbo added 18 points and Antwan Scott 17.
Jacob Van led Air force with 18 points.
