NJIT pushes past Maryland-Eastern Shore 69-60
NEWARK, N.J. -- Tim Coleman finished with 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting and New Jersey Institute of Technology defeated Maryland-Eastern Shore 69-60 on Wednesday night.
The Highlanders (8-9) shot 55 percent from the field and scored 26 points off of 19 turnovers. Ky Howard scored 13 points and Winfield Willis added 12 for NJIT.
Maryland-Eastern Shore (8-9) had a 43-24 rebounding edge and scored 19 second-chance points, but was limited to 20-of-58 shooting (34.5 percent). Mike Myers was the only scorer in double figures for the Hawks, carrying the team with 29 points and 16 rebounds, both career-highs.
NJIT erased an early 9-1 deficit, surging ahead to lead by as much as 13 in the opening half. Coleman sank a pair of 3-pointers during a 16-4 run that gave NJIT its largest lead, 48-31 with 12:23 remaining. Maryland-Eastern Shore trailed by double digits until a late 3 by Ryan Andino.
