Delaware State coasts to 90-68 win over Cheyney

DOVER, Del. -- DeAndre Haywood scored 25 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead Delaware State to a 90-68 win over Division II member Cheyney on Monday.

Haywood shot 9 of 11 from the floor and missed just one of his four shots from beyond the arc. Kendall Gray added 10 points, hauled in 11 rebounds and had five blocks, while Amere May also had 10 points for Delaware State (6-8), which shot 56 percent in its final nonconference game of the season.

The Hornets controlled the glass 40-33 and went 16 of 25 from the free throw line, where Cheyney was just 1 of 4.

Cheyney trailed 50-35 at the break and was held to 42 percent shooting from the floor.

Kevin Larkin led the Wolves with 19 points, while Jerrod Johnson had 18 points and six rebounds.
