VALPARAISO, Ind. -- Alec Peters knocked down 29 points and Vashil Fernandez swatted away a career-high eight shots as Valparaiso rolled past NAIA Div. II Goshen, 82-55 Sunday afternoon.
Peters was 10 of 17 from the field and was 4 of 7 from distance, fueling an offense that shot 53.7 percent (29 of 54). Tevonn Walker and Keith Carter both had 10 points.
Coming off a victory over IPFW in which he matched his previous season high with six blocked shots, Fernandez pushed his season total to 45 blocks in 14 games.
Valparaiso (12-2) held Goshen to 30.4 percent shooting from the field (17 of 56) and outrebounded the Maple Leafs 48-29 -- the seventh time it has posted a double-digit advantage on the boards. Darien Walker led the effort with nine boards.
Billy Geschke scored 10 points off the Goshen bench, but was the only Maple Leafs scorer to reach double figures.
