STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- Roland Nyama drained three 3-pointers in a row early in the second half to finish with 22 points as Stony Brook broke away from Binghamton 64-52 on Saturday night.

Stony Brook (19-10, 10-4 America East) remains in third place in conference. Binghamton (5-25, 4-11) had knocked off second-place Vermont on Wednesday and has a slender shot at the final spot.

The Seawolves built a 20-point lead and held on despite not scoring for the final 4:41.

Nyama, a 6-foot-6 freshman from Frankfurt, Germany, scored 22 points or better for the third game in the last seven. He hit 8 of 10 from the field including 6 of 7 from 3-point range with six rebounds and three steals.

Carson Puriefoy scored 13 for Stony Brook with six assists and Jameel Warney added 11 points.

Romello Walker led Binghamton with 17 points and Willie Rodriguez scored 15 with 11 rebounds.
