Albany coasts past UMBC in 69-55 win
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Wheeler Baker scored 14 points, Sam Rowley added 12 more and Albany cruised to a 69-55 win over Maryland-Baltimore County on Sunday.
Rowley went 4 of 4 from the field and also hit all four shots from the line. Dallas Ennema and Ray Sanders added 11 points apiece as Albany (12-7, 7-0 America East) shot 47 percent from the floor and controlled the glass 32-21 to extend its win streak to seven. Ennema finished 3 of 7 from beyond the arc.
Albany broke away with an 11-0 burst capped by Baker's 3-pointer midway through first half to make it 14-4 and carried a 35-22 advantage into the break. Early in the second half, Greig Stire's bucket stretched Albany's lead to 39-28 and the margin never fell below double figures again.
Cody Joyce led UMBC (3-17, 1-6) with 16 points, Malcolm Brent added 12 and Wayne Sparrow 10.
