Rowley, Hooley lead Albany past Maine 80-56
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Sam Rowley and Peter Hooley each scored 14 points to spark Albany to an 80-56 romp over Maine in the America East Conference opener for both schools Saturday.
The Great Danes (6-7, 1-0 America East) opened the game with a 13-3 run, but Maine scrambled back to trail by just six points, 39-33, at intermission. Albany opened the second half with another run, pushing the lead to 12 points, 46-34 barely three minutes into the period.
Albany shot 52.2 percent from the field (24 of 46) and knocked down 9 of 19 attempts from distance. Tre Green added 12 points to the effort while Dallas Ennema added 10.
Maine (1-12, 0-1) got 12 points from Kevin Little and 10 more from Aaron Calixte.
Albany now has won the last four straight meetings with the Black Bears and eight of the past nine.
