Belmont beats Trevecca Nazarene 96-76

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Taylor Barnette scored 27 points and four other Belmont players reached double figures Wednesday night in a 96-76 victory over Division II Trevecca Nazarene.

Barnette made four-straight 3-point attempts as part of a 19-6 run to open the second half to stretch the Bruins' lead to 60-38 lead with 16:38 remaining. Barnette finished 10 of 12 from the floor.

Nick Smith had 17 points, and Evan Bradds scored 12 and Craig Bradshaw 10 for Belmont (2-1). Reece Chamberlain added 11 points and dished out nine assists for the Bruins.

Jalen Palm sank a 3-pointer to give Trevecca a 22-21 lead with 9:41 remaining in the first half. Smith and Caleb Chowbay answered with back-to-back 3-pointers and the Bruins led the rest of the way.

Palm scored 17 points, Matt Gamberoni 13, and Byron Sanford and Devonte' Neal chipped in 10 to lead Trevecca Nazarene.
