UC Davis handles UC Irvine in 75-56 win
IRVINE, Calif. -- Josh Ritchart scored 22 points on 10-of-11 shooting and UC Davis beat UC Irvine 75-56 on Thursday night to break a three-way tie and share first place in the Big West Conference with Long Beach State.
Tyler Les added 18 and Neal Monson 10 for the Aggies (17-4, 7-1), who led 35-25 at halftime after the lead traded hands nine times.
The Aggies pulled ahead 56-38 when Les hit his third 3-pointer midway through the second half, then Ritchart hit a layup and a 3 for a 69-45 lead with 4:30 to play. The Anteaters finished with an 8-3 run, but it wasn't enough.
Will Davis II led UC Irvine (13-9, 6-2) with 18 and John Ryan blocked five shots.
Long Beach State beat UC Riverside 68-63 on Thursday and faces UC Irvine on Saturday.
