UC Davis cruises past Holy Names 57-42
DAVIS, Calif. -- UC Davis doubled up Holy Names in the first half, building a 34-17 advantage, and cruised to a 57-42 season-opening win over Divison II Holy Names Sunday night.
J.T. Adenrele hit back-to-back layups and Josh Ritchart dunked to give the Aggies a 21-point lead, 40-19, two minutes into the second half.
The Hawks answered with a 14-4 run of their own to cut the lead to 11 midway through the half.
Ritchart and Corey Hawkins finished with 13 and 12 points, respectively, to lead UC Davis, which shot a crisp 50 percent from the field (25 of 50).
Dante Robinson came off the Holy Names bench to lead the team in scoring with 11 points. The Hawks struggled from the field, hitting 18 of 56 from the floor and 4 of 11 from 3-point range.
Holy Names held a decided, 37-26 edge on the boards.
