Frye has 19, Nicholls knocks off McNeese State 70-59
THIBODAUX, La. -- Ja'Dante' Frye was 9 of 14 from the floor for 19 points to lead Nicholls to a 70-59 win over McNeese State on Saturday.
It was the first back-to-back victories for Nicholls (7-13, 4-6 Southland Conference) in 345 days.
Liam Thomas and T.J. Carpenter had 12 apiece for the Colonels.
Nicholls, trailing 27-24 at the break, started the second half with an 11-0 run and was ahead 50-35 midway of the second period. McNeese State had an 8-0 run to close to 54-48 with 4:04 left in the game but could not catch the Colonels.
Nicholls made 27 of 52 field goal attempts while limiting the Cowboys to 19-of-60 shooting. The Colonels slowed Desharick Guidry, the Cowboys leading scorer at 17.9 a game in conference, to just 2 of 8 from the floor for 11 points. Guidry grabbed 13 rebounds.
Kevin Hardy had 21 points for McNeese State (9-12, 3-7).
