Lamar with an 84-74 win over Abilene Christian
BEAUMONT, Texas -- Anthony Holliday scored 29 points to lead Lamar to an 84-74 win over Abilene Christian on Saturday night.
Holliday finished with 9-of-16 shooting from the field and 10-of-11 shooting from the line for the Cardinals (11-10, 5-4 Southland Conference). Marcus Owens added 16 points and Donovan Ross had 14.
Lamar jumped to a 13-3 lead to start the game but Abilene Christian fought back on a 16-0 run featuring 3-pointers by Austin Cooke, LaDarrien Williams and Harrison Hawkins to lead 19-13 with 11:41 left in the first half. The teams were tied 39-39 at the break.
Holliday mounted an 11-0 run midway through the second half to give Lamar a 68-54 advantage with 8:38 to play. Owens sank a 3 with 4:42 remaining to make it 78-61 and the Cardinals cruised to the win.
Hawkins led the Wildcats (9-12, 3-5) with a career-best 33 points.
