NEW ORLEANS -- DeMarcus Gatlin had 15 points and Michael Holyfield had 14 rebounds and six blocks as Sam Houston State extended its win streak to six, knocking off New Orleans 68-62 Saturday night.

Holyfield, Jabari Peters and Paul Baxter all had nine points for Sam Houston State (11-4, 3-0 Southland Conference).

Sam Houston held a 34-21 halftime advantage and was up 41-29 with 15:44 left. The Privateers mounted a comeback as Kevin Hill had a tip-in and Christavious Gill followed with a three-point play, and New Orleans closed to 46-37 with 11:35 left. The Bearkats opened a bigger gap but the Privateers charged back again. Hill made two free throws and had a tip-in to close to 63-58 with 1:02 left. Gatlin made four straight free throws to seal the win.

Gill and Terrance Syon had 14 points apiece, and Hill and Tevin Broyles had 11 each for New Orleans (5-6, 1-1).
