Ashe leads Mount St. Mary's to 77-71 win over Sacred Heart
FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Byron Ashe made 3 of 6 from long range for 21 points to lead Mount St. Mary's to a 77-71 victory over Sacred Heart in Northeast Conference action on Saturday.
Ashe, who tied his career-high for points, also had five steals. Gregory Graves had 10 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for Mount St. Mary's (10-11, 6-4).
Leading 41-33 at the half, Mount St. Mary's had a 22-8 run early in the second period to take a 63-46 lead with 10:40 left. Ashe had a three-point play to start the run. Sacred Heart charged back to close to 69-62 with 2:33 remaining but Ashe had a layup and Taylor Danaher and Charles Glover made six straight free throws to hold on for the win.
Tevin Falzon had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead Sacred Heart (9-14, 3-7). Evan Kelley contributed 15 points and De'von Barnett and Steve Glowiak had 10 apiece.
