Wagner leads early, beats Fair Dickinson 82-68
TEANECK, N.J. -- Marcus Burton scored 22 points and Wagner got in front early to beat Fairleigh Dickinson 82-68 on Saturday.
Japhet Kadji made a basket and two free throws to give Wagner the lead with 9:24 left in the opening half, and a 14-7 run put the Seahawks up by 11 points at the break. Fairleigh Dickinson was held to just 13 points in the first 10 minutes of the second half, and wasn't able to recover from its double-digit deficit.
Corey Henson scored 14 points and Kadji and Stedman Allen each scored 10 for Wagner (5-12, 3-3 Northeast Conference). The Seahawks shot 26 of 52 from the floor (50 percent) and committed 25 turnovers.
Malachi Nix scored 13 points -- 11 of those at the free-throw line -- and Mustaffa Jones and Stephan Jiggetts added 12 points apiece for Fairleigh Dickinson (7-10, 2-4). The Knights were out-boarded 41-19.
