Wood has career night; UNLV runs past Fresno State 73-61
LAS VEGAS -- Christian Wood had 27 points, with career highs of 19 rebounds and seven blocked shots, to lead UNLV past Fresno State 73-61 on Tuesday night.
Wood, who was 8 of 18 from the floor and made 11 of 17 free throws, collected his 14th double-double of the year. Rashad Vaughn added 18 points for UNLV (14-10, 5-6 Mountain West Conference).
UNLV closed the first half with a 13-7 run and opened the final period with an 11-5 run to lead 46-30. Julien Lewis nailed a 3-point jumper with 10:31 remaining as Fresno State charged back to close to 59-51. Wood slammed home a dunk for a 63-52 lead with 5:17 left and the Rebels coasted home.
Lewis had 16 points, Karachi Edo added 13 with 10 rebounds and Marvelle Harris chipped in 12 for Fresno State (11-13, 6-5).
