Western Kentucky beats NAIA Brescia 89-42
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- DJ Clayton had 14 points and seven rebounds on Saturday night, and Western Kentucky cruised past NAIA Brescia 89-42.
WKU (6-5) shot 57.1 percent from the floor and 10 of 20 from 3-point range. The Hilltoppers opened on a 16-2 run, led 40-18 at halftime and never trailed.
Justin Johnson and Avery Patterson each added 11 points and George Fant scored 10. Twelve different Hilltoppers were on the court for at least 11 minutes and 11 finished with at least four points.
WKU improved to 5-2 in the month December and close the month out on Monday hosting Alice Lloyd, another NAIA opponent. The 47-point margin was Western Kentucky's first 40-point victory since 2006.
Decarlos Collier led Brescia with 10 points. The Bearcats had 22 turnovers and struggled from the floor with 29.3 percent shooting.
