Yale tops Brown in final seconds, 69-65
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Javier Duren's jumper snapped a tie with 3.4 seconds left and Justin Sears made two at the line to seal Yale's 69-65 come-from-behind victory over Brown on Saturday afternoon.
Brown led 31-25 at the half and the score remained close the rest of the way, with Brown's Rafael Maia tying it at 63-all with 1:07 left on the clock. Sears made two at the line but Tavon Blackmon responded on the next possession with a jumper to keep the score tied with 18 seconds left.
Duren's step-back jumper gave the Bulldogs the advantage, and Sears got in front of a long inbounds pass and was sent to the line to end it.
Sears finished with 27 points and Duren had 24 to lead Yale (13-6, 2-0 Ivy League).
Maia scored 18 for the Bears (9-10, 0-2).
