Richmond holds off Howard 54-41
RICHMOND, Va. -- ShawnDre' Jones had 11 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead Richmond to a 54-41 victory over Howard on Saturday night.
Capped by a Trey Davis layup, Richmond got off to a hot start that included a 15-2 run putting them up 24-7 in the first half. While the Spiders led the entire way, Howard brought the deficit to five midway through the second half, but Richmond held on.
Terry Allen finished with nine points and four boards, including finishing 7 of 7 from the free-throw line, while Kendall Anthony, Deion Taylor and Alonzo Nelson-Ododa all pitched in eight points for the Spiders (4-4). Taylor also grabbed seven rebounds. Richmond won the assists battle 12 to 4, led by four from Anthony.
James Daniel had 18 points, James Carlton had 12 -- including three 3-pointers -- and James Miller had 10 for the Bison.
