Saunders paces Harvard past Grand Canyon 72-59
PHOENIX -- Wesley Saunders scored 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting with six assists and six rebounds to lead Harvard past Grand Canyon 72-59 on Tuesday night.
Siyani Chambers finished with 16 points, while Corbin Miller and Steve Mondou-Missi had 12 apiece for Harvard (8-3). Mondou-Missi grabbed 10 boards, leading the Crimson to a 38-24 edge in rebounding.
Saunders, Miller and Chambers each hit a 3-pointer during an 18-4 run to help Harvard race out to a 24-11 lead at the 8:38 mark of the first half. The Crimson, who shot 52.1 percent from the field, led by 10 at halftime and stayed in control during the second half as Mondou-Missi's jumper made it 51-30 with 13:10 remaining.
Daniel Alexander and DeWayne Russell paced the Antelopes (8-8) with 15 points apiece and De'Andre Davis had 13 on 5-of-7 shooting. Grand Canyon shot 44.2 percent, but couldn't overcome a cold 3-for-13 start.
