Mercer leads early, beats Kennesaw State 74-66
MACON, Ga. -- Jibri Bryan scored 15 points and Darious Moten added 14 to lead Mercer in a 74-66 victory over Kennesaw State on Wednesday night.
Bryan was 6 of 10 from the floor as the Bears combined to shoot 55.6 percent (30 of 54) from the field. Phillip Leonard added 13 points and T.J. Hallice chipped in 11 for Mercer.
Mercer (2-1) outscored Kennesaw State 12-5 to close out the first half, leading 42-25 at the break. The Owls closed a 25-point deficit to seven -- after a 16-2 run -- with 2:49 left to play, but Mercer made 6 of 10 free throws to end it.
Yonel Brown scored 22 points to lead Kennesaw State (0-3), and Delbert Love chipped in 17. Orlando Coleman finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds as the Owls shot just 9 of 17 (52.9 percent) from the free-throw line and had 16 turnovers.
